By Adam Studzinski, News Director

Another traffic accident on US 136 on the east end of Macomb sent two local residents to the hospital yesterday.

Merild Hobbs Jr., of Bardolpoh, was traveling south on CR 1800 E. approaching US 136 when he failed to stop at the stop sign and drove into the path of Charlie Martin, of Canton, who was traveling west on 136.

The resulting impact caused both vehicles to leave the road and also ejected Hobbs from the vehicle.

Both Hobbs and Martin sustained moderate injuries and were taken to McDonough District Hospital for treatment.

Martin was carrying two passengers in his vehicle, both of whom were uninjured.

The Illinois State Police conducted the investigation and were assisted by the McDonough Sheriff’s Office, Macomb Fire Deptartment, and MDH.
