SRC Reports Increased Enrollment

By Adam Studzinski, News Director

An increase in enrollment was reported at the Spoon River College Board of Trustees meeting held in Macomb last week.

Dean of student services Missy Wilkinson said not only is enrollment up 4% compared to last year, but they are still registering students.  She noted that registration would continue through the week of January 14th, which is when the spring semester begins.

During his report, President Curtis Oldfield invited trustees to join him in hosting a legislative breakfast on Thursday, December 20th.  Guests will include State Senators John Sullivan (D-Rushville), and David Koehler (D-Pekin), Representatives Norine Hammond (R-Macomb), and Mike Unes (R-Peoria).

Oldfield noted that the meeting would allow them the opportunity to discuss increased partnerships between business, industry, and education to benefit communities, and give legislators a more complete understanding of issues facing the college.
